Dubai Municipality official rejects Dh250,000 bribe, honoured

A Dubai Municipality officer was honoured for turning down a bribe of Dh250,000 in exchange for allowing illegal disposal of water load at a sewage treatment plant.   

Rashid Al Muhairi rejected the bribe money offered to him to allow the entry and disposal of water load in Jebel Ali station.  

Dubai Municipality praised the honest officer in a tweet showing him being honoured by Dawood Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality.

Last week, a 51-year-old Indian businessman was charged with bribery at the Dubai Court of First Instance for offering two police officers Dh200,000 in June in exchange for his release. The businessman was arrested in connection with a forcible robbery report and offered Dh100,000 bribe to each of the two police officers.
