A prisoner in Sharjah was able to be part of his daughter’s wedding, thanks to the police. The Sharjah Punitive and Reformatory Establishments (SPRE) helped him attend the wedding ceremony virtually through a video calling app.
Brigadier Ahmad Abdul Aziz Shuhail, Director-General of the SPRE, said the department received a request from the inmate’s family to let him virtually attend the wedding. The request was approved immediately.
The officer stressed the police’s keenness to help inmates stay in touch with their families. This will enhance family bonding, the officer said. Such gestures will also help convicts reform and reintegrate into society after their release.
